Elliott says that being a leader in Nashville’s trendy 12 South neighborhood is both exciting and terrifying. “In a town of all the artists and creativity, it’s the beauty and the curse of my role because this town chases what’s new, it chases what’s sexy and fun and creative and different, and I love that. There’s some of that where I can play into that and say, ‘that’s me, too,’ but at the same time, there’s a treadmill of always having to be relevant and always having to be in front of people and be somebody…but, Jesus doesn’t need to do that. So, I love that about this city and it’s really exhausting at the same time.”Read More
First real post of 2018!
I'm experiencing a very real case of the Sunday scaries, eating crunchy peanut butter out of the jar because I'm too lazy to cook dinner tonight. And hey, that's okay, because this year my two words are "worthy" and "grace", and I've realized I need to start giving myself more of the latter.
A friend from work made fun of me the other day for having "keywords" for my new year. I realize it's totally nerdy and cliche, but I also know how much I need to remember the power of worthiness and grace in my life. It also might have to do with the fact I don't love goal setting, so this is my way to avoid it. Points for honesty?Read More
Normally I would say, "Happy Monday!" but we all know that's a total oxymoron. 'Twas more of a "meh" Monday, ya know? Truth bomb.
I've had a little more free time than normal this past week and have gotten back into the groove of writing each night. I'm also diving back into a more regular schedule with my small group gals, our first meeting of the fall season happened this past Thursday night at my place. I'm so excited to have a community of women to grow with and do life together on a regular basis! 'Tis the best I tell ya.
The photo above was taken at a childhood wedding back in June. I've known Kelsey since I was 3 years old, so it was almost surreal to be a part of her big day! Kris and Kelsey were Homecoming King and Queen in college (um, okay, cute) and started dating soon after. I love every part of their story, from how they met to how they've grown closer to the Lord since dating to becoming teammates for life. This past weekend I was able to celebrate a similar story as I headed with my friend, Jillian, down to Seaside, Florida for Kurt & Kaci's wedding (see her wedding shower post here). We took a couple of days off work and arrived early to enjoy the beach before the festivities began on Sunday. Jill's boyfriend, Matt, drove up from Orlando where he attends school to hang with us for a couple of days as well. Love on love on love!Read More
Sometimes you love a music group within 10 seconds of listening, and sometimes your love is a slow burn. The Lone Bellow has been a 3-year slow burn, but as of late, I can't get enough!
I've had the privilege of attending a few live performances from them here in Nash. They are sssooo fun live!
Here's a more mellow track from them called "Walk Into A Storm." Hope you all enjoy!
It's the time of year when birch trees, pool days, 70 degree weather, rocky shorelines, cherry-flavored everything and fish boils crash into one incredible week of vacation. Northern Wisconsin is my heart personified!Read More
Tonight I'm writing on an empty stomach. There's a banana keeping a handful of spices company in my cabinet. I think I have a bag of carrots somewhere in our fridge I bought a couple of weeks back (?). Heading to the grocery store less than 2 miles away is Plan B, right behind playing up the dramatic and eating a dark chocolate bar for dinner instead. I'm going with Plan A.Read More
