This summer I mentioned reading Shauna Niequist's most recently published book, Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living, just before I quit my job and moved away from Nashville. Since this time I've been living at home with my parents and taking the time to figure out my next steps. Time back in my childhood home has been both rejuvenating and a true test of patience; it's much too easy for me to become squirmy in a matter of days, yet this time of simplicity and quiet was exactly what my soul ordered.
I watched this live stream from IF Gathering just as Shauna's book was released, but decided this morning to watch it once again. The past two months of transition time have taught me the importance of committing time to myself so I can love others better. I now remember how much I love dreaming for others. This year I can honestly say I lost that, but this video was the wake-up call I needed to move in the right direction. God is so good.
Maybe this video is exactly what you need, too. Regardless it is a great reminder to continue loving, empowering, and supporting a life other than your own.
